I have a virus, and no money. Free adware/spyware removal systems?

I have a virus, but no money to pay for a state-of-the-art removal system. I’ve downloaded NoAdware, but that isn’t good enough. Are there any FREE downloadable spyware/adware removers that will get rid of my viruses?

Free – For starters, download, update and run a full scan using SuperAntiSpyware (SAS) http://www.superantispyware.com/
SAS is an exceptionally easy to use application that will remove the majority of difficult Trojans and Worms, not just the easy ones. In addition it has the ability to remove Vundo and Smitfraud infections. SAS can lock your home page to prevent browser hi-jacking attempts.

If possible it is recommended that you load SAS in normal mode but run it in Safe Mode. Safe Mode can be started by continually pressing F8 during the boot sequence. If you are badly infected you might need to run SAS more than once to help clean your system. Afterwards if the only infections now being shown are in System Restore, once you are completely satisfied that you can boot normally, you can either delete the infected restore points manually, or temporarily turn off System Restore to purge the files.

Assuming you have some real awkward infections that persist even after trying all the above I suggest you download a dedicated Smitfraud removal program from:
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/desktop_software/desktop_security/smitfraudfix.cfm
If possible run in Safe Mode.
    Likewise the dedicated VundoFix:

    Good luck & safe surfing.

AVG is a great program, easy install, updates definitions daily with no hassle. Search free avg download, simple as that. You could try a spysweeper demo. The program spysweeper is actually really good for removing spyware. The demo can be downloaded, run it, then delete it when you have cleared your machine. Search spysweeper.

    Get rid of Noadware

    Download SUPERantispyware

This is a good program for getting rid of your spyware problems.
You should also get a free anti-virus
    Avast

    AVG

    Zonealarm
    http://www.download.com/ZoneAlarm-Firewall-Windows-2000-XP-/3000-10435_4-10039884.html

Now this stuff can only keep you so safe. The problem is that sometimes that a virus can escape all of tehse things.

The number one trojan/virus is a form of Smitfraud. To get rid of these infections and more.
    Download Smitfraudfix
    http://siri.geekstogo.com/
    1. Download SmitfraudFix tool and save it to your desktop.
    2. Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode. If you don’t know how to start the computer in safe mode, click here to read more.
    http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml
    3. Double-click on the SmitfraudFix.exe icon then follow the screen instructions. Option #2 should be selected in this case.
    4. When you are prompted with “Do you want to clean the registry ?”, simply answer “Y”.
    5. Reboot.

Getting it off might be a little tougher than keeping it off, a good internets security suite that is free is located at:
    http://www.comodo.com/products/free_products.html
they offer a firewall, antispyware, antivirus, and antispam.
that should take care of the no money part, I have used these products and they are very good.

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following linkhttp://www.computeractive.co.uk/. On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps
